trying to figure out what board to split........... i've got a nitro natural 163, which someone on here said was a good candidate however i broke a nitro natural and it had a foam/wood core with tons of carbon fibre in it.....
i also have an old burton johan 162 with the 3d holes, its pretty soft and also narrow. it would be devastating to 'hack' this somewhat iconic board. Also candidates for the chopping block are: a rossignol T.rice 159, which has been a stiff, predictable backounrty charger! ( though a little short). I've got an option sansalone 158.5 that has had a rough life. I've also got a K2 turbodream 161.(rocker board).
I had a prior split back in 2002, it was a 168. it was as stiff as an old g.s. ski, had almost no sidecut and was about as thick as a mcdonalds big mac. there new boards look sweet, but i'm dreaming of the jones solution.
If anyone has had any experiences splitting any of the boards mentioned above any advice would be appreciated. the local ski/board swap is in a week so i'll be looking for something 165 ish.........basically anything 'woodcore' is good to go?????
I just chopped my Johan. It is pretty narrow. I realize now that the reason I stopped riding it was because it was too narrow. And I made it more narrow by splitting it. But at least my wife can use it. It'll be fun to let it see some action again. We had some good times together.
