It is my first post here, but I have been reading most of the posts on this website and I love it!

Does anybody have experience in cutting the snowboard in a magne-traction manner like on the Jones Solution. I was thinking about cutting one of my old boards like this.
One of the reasons is that I don't want to insert an inner edge. We don't always have powder in the Arlberg.

Hopefully it will ride like my normal snowboard in the Arlberg like in this little movie!!

have not heard of anyone doing this as of yet. Most of us use circular saws to make the cut, making waves like this would be nearly impossible and not very accurate. If I were going to try this I would have someone with a water jet do it for me.

How would you change from riding to touring mode id the inside edge was not straight?
You need the inside to be straight so you can slide the halves together where the hooks are? Or is there a way around this?
Any idea if this is feasible?
I know Mountain and terain technologies does a "S" cut on burton DIY conersions.

It is still possible to slide the halves together if there is a small amount of "wave" on the inside edge. Jones Solution is one case
in point, i dont know of any others.

BTW, that is a pretty sloppy cut for a company thats charging money to split boards....

So, I'm not the only one who wondered about that?

I think it has to be a very subtile magne-traction, then the sliding would work fine. With the new karakorom clips it shouldn't be a problem at all anymore. I will do some testing, and hopefully I can make a better cut then "the professional cut" in the picture.

That would definitely be the perfect application for Karakoram clamps.

Thats's a good solution for dealing with burton inserts but that sloppy cut looks like you should have paid a case of beer after the job

I think that severe of a wave point is begging for a ptex delam if it 's used in hard snow; which is the point of magnatrac right?
magnetrac works well on hard snow but w/out the metal edge it won't bite for schite and in soft snow it's irrelevant,
so If your not going to take the time & effort to install a metal edge don't bother, simplify with a strait cut.
By the time you bend carefully the edges to fit a hopefully clean cut you could save the $$ for a jones solution and get a guarantee.
I don't believe the magnetac in skin mode will even be noticeable compared to any other factory slpit w/metal edges,
in that sketchy of terrain you'll want ski crampons anyway again making the magnetrac irrelevant.
