Looks good! I put a set of BD STS tail clips on my skins and they have been great. Tailclips seem like a no-brainer.... now why don't they come on the skins in the 1st place????? Once again good work and i'm sure you will enjoy your skins not peeling up!

Nice work!
One thing I prefer about BD STS-style tail clips is that you can use the same set of skins with more than one split, as long as they're within say 8 cm in length, and reasonably similar in shape.

Hey guys!
Thank you for the "words of praise".
Yeah i agree, the Voile skins should come with STS tail clips and the boards should be prepared so that you can hook the clips on without any cuts or other mod's.
The mod i made was the best for me because i didn't want to cut the board.

Hey, nice rig! I am looking to do something similar with my skins and this looks like the best setup I have seen.
When I search for these clips online all the ones I see have some other protrusion with two rubber tips: seems like you fit something else over those like what is that piece?
Also about how it is attached, it is just some standard webbing fastened to the end of the skin? Wondering if there is someway to make this connection adjustable like on the STS clips.

Hey phareyouwell,
When i searched the web i also could not find the ones that i have now....i just ordered them in a local store and i got these ones, with an explanation that these are the new ones. So my suggestion is that you send an email with my picture to the store you want to buy from and just ask them if they have my kind in stock. I know some people that have to ones you posted and they say they are not OK, because the rubber from the tips can fall off.
I attached the clip with a strap that i cut from a really durable fabric made for backpacks....you can but it at your local mountain gear shop. And i used rivets to secure it to the skins.
So far the set-up works great.
Good luck building your own and if you need any more info just ask.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up ordering the stretchers from climbing skins direct (https://www.climbingskinsdirect.com/Ski ... ccessories) so am gonna give that a try first. They look similar to the kohla pieces you have. Only thing is I think I will have to bend the metal to fit properly over the ends of my split

Don't sweat. I did this last year and it worked well, no need to bend the tip clips.

what kind of rivets are you using to secure the webbing to the skins? I have never worked with rivets before and the ones we tried out did not seem like they were going to work as we wanted.
also, it seems like we would need to use an elastic webbing as the rubber piece does not have enough give to get the tail clip on or off the end when the rest of the skin is attached, anyone have any advice on this?
rivets, when you pop them in a hole, depend on a hard, solid surface to spread against as they pop into perment placing. they can be a bit of a pain in the ass for softer fabrics like denim, or your skins. i'd suggest snagging a grommet kit, like this one, only in the specific size you think is best.
