Not an ignorant question at all. Removing the pin guide presents no problems that I can detect. You have to remove or modify the pin guide to use Chomps crampons. You can't see it but I trimmed down the pin guide to make a gasket of sorts so the screws go in to the correct depth and the binding doesn't scrape the topsheet. Copying this mod and posting pics is highly encouraged.

well maybe my question can be ignorant then..It looks like new pre-fabbed touring brackets, and I'm curious how you did that with a dremel? Metal cutoff wheel? It looks great. I've often wondered if I couldn't convince a metal shop to make a pair of touring brackets out of Ti for me, but I'm sure it would be costly. Back in the day before sparks, I thought if you could get Ti slider plates you'd safe a LOT of weight..but that'd be even more spendy I'm sure.

Maybe the question wasn't ignorant, but the diction sure as hell was! I think I must've been under the influence of something when I wrote this post
Now you teased me...what do you mean by "in the works"-- by you? Please keep me posted....PM works fine.
