I like taper on a board. The Gnu CHB I'm thinking of diy splitting doesn't have any.

So I'm thinking of making two cuts instead of one and reducing the tail width by about 7 mm or 1/4 inch compared to the tip.

Now even one wobbly cut will produce matching edges so really straight cuts are needed if I make two but any other issues anyone can see?

Thanks, Spencer

Have done it in the past and it takes abit of time to match the halves up again but it can be done

you could invest in a really long straightedge to be able to sand a straight inside edge...

Also done it. Made a table to clamp the board in, ripped it down the middle, clamped one half in the table, ripped the taper in it, repeat for other half. Sanded edges to meet up smoothly, finish job. Easy peasy...

I always thought about doing this. Show us when you're done.
