I'm contemplating splitting my old board which is a Heelside Destroyer 165 (http://www.heelside.com/boards_detail.html?pid=HS2549) and was wondering if anyone had any advice. I've been lurking around for a while and know what I would need, I'm just wondering if it would be worth it.

I started snowboarding last season and have been an addict ever since. I have been progressing quickly and would like to get into more back country type riding. Up this this point I've been riding in-bounds at Mt Hood Meadows. Last July I summited Mt Hood with my board on my back and rode down, and this last weekend I went up to Cloud Cap Inn on Mt Hood and did some hiking/riding and decided packing my board on my back has got to end .

Enough for the background. My main question is would it be worth splitting my Destroyer, even though I'm not entirely satisfied with it solid, to use for a beginner split? I don't want having a bad board sour the taste by not giving me an accurate representation of the sport. The Destroyer is listed as a pipe/park board but I used it as my beginner board for all-mountain riding which worries me. Or should I just pony up the money and buy a Mojo?

Thanks

According to Heelside's webpage there is carbon placed throughout the core, splitting would probably f-it up. Might be best to go wood core.
Perhaps others will provide a different point of view

It only says it has carbon Xs all over the board. Wood core it probably is anyway.
