So I grew up a skier but have snowboarded for over 17 years, I constantly find myself going back and forth between the 2, I love both. I finally have come up with a backcountry solution so you can enjoy both sports.

This idea was sparked from this thread http://splitboard.com/talk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6123 and I didn't want to hijack that thread so here's my idea. Take an older powder ski that has a waist of 105- 110mm tip to tail anywhere from 168-180. Mount Dynafit binders so you have touring and skiing options , then mount your voile pucks. Some things need to be worked out, like the fact to go into snowboard mode you couldn't have brakes on the binders, but you could use leashes. Placing the pucks might be an issue, could go in front and back of binders, or in front and in between, depends if you could put risers in the binders.

This would give you the option to ski or snowboard depending on what your mood is. Let me know if this idea is possible, here's a pic of what I'm thinking.

Certainly doable, but is it worth it?? I do remember one of the T-3 guys building a swallowtail split out of two skis and a custom center piece to go between the skis. Enough time/tools/money/beer you could in theory build whatever you want...as long as you go easy on the beer. Possibly more doable these days with the wider skis out there, but even with that you'd end up with a narrow split.

Mr. burton has got that one pretty nailed down  , I guess you would just have to uncrew your back pucks and screw in the dynafit heel though, I think they would always overlap.
