Anyone out there adding tail clips to the tail clipless tractor skins? I am a big fan of tail clips to keep snow from creeping in under your skin...
If anyone has done this mod. then please let me know.
cheers, chimp
I don't understand how that works, is it on a spring?
How can you have both ends of the skin be rigid, you have to put one side on first, then how do you stretch the tail clip over the tail, and tension it?

yeah yeah! Do they work well? Hold up well to lots of use? I'm going to have to get a pair of those...
Did you ever have any problems with the tail of the skin being pulled at an angle (sideways) a bit? Or it just stays put?
hi stomp,
I've never had any problems with pulling off the skins themselves in any way during the ascent - before I added the tail clip. the tail clip was just an idea for some DIY ... it's definitly NO "must have"!
nevertheless: the tail clip worked well, and hold up the ~15 trips I did with the Mtn Gun.
the Mtn Gun found a new home now ... and on my new splits I haven't added the tail clips yet. and I am not planning it ...
but who knows what will happen ...
I've had problems with my skins before, probably 4 or 5 trips I had some major problems with the tails not sticking, and had to seriously break out the hockey tape. It seems to either not be a problem at all, or be a serious problem, I think it has to do a lot with humidity and temperature (also if it's dumping wet snow, it's hard to not get the skins wet on the glue, and the base full of water)
I'm definately ordering a set of those Coll-Tex
