For wax - as with any new ski or board, the best thing to do if you have the time and tools would be to get the bases nice and warm, and apply a coat of the warmest temp (prob 30+ F) wax you can find. Give it ample time to cool thoroughly, then scrape and buff the heck out of it. Then apply another coat of wax appropriate for the conditions you're going to use your board in. This would be best for the longevity and wax holding capabilities throughout the life of your board. Of course not everyone is this picky, this is just what we recommend at the shop i work at. At the very least give it a single coat of wax for the temperatures you would use it in. A universal wax works well if you dont wax often, like a uni-warm or uni-cool. As with any bases you're gonna slap skins on, scrape, scrape, scrape. Skins wont adhere well to excess wax. Be thorough and you wont have any problems.
