Hey guys and girls, i'm new here and decided to show off my latest project.
Years ago when i was a snowboard instructor i bought a used Burton Canyon from a dude that also lived in the area. (turned to be a great friend actually) I had loads of fun on the 173 long machine and in the beginning of this year i decided to put the saw in it.
I started with measuring the centerline of the board and drew a swallowtail on it by hand. Next step was cutting it with a jigsaw. I did my best to make the swallowtail nice and symetrical. After sawing it i made the exposed woodcore black with a marker pen for the looks and putted a small amount of epoxy resin on it to protect the woodcore for moist and stuff. Finnished product:
Turned out better than i thought, check the proof that it works perfect and still creates huge sprays.
Now after a year of using it I'm thinking of splitting it so that i can take it out in the backcountry.

looks great I picked up an original 173 eldo but It's a bit of a plank til it's up to speed in the deep. Think I'll cut a similar tail in it, that should make it little easier to maneuver, and splitting it should soften it up. How is the cut edge holding up?

The cut edge is holding up perfect. The epoxy resin is nice and flexible so it follows the curves of the board perfectly when i push it hard on the tail.
Here i pushed it hard on the tail. No problems at all, it seems that the board loves riding on the back
