Thinking about having a board split this coming year. Trying to decide to split a Jones Mtn. Twin 159 or T. Rice 157. I'm about 5'8" 160 lbs. Just wondering if anyone could offer a little insight. Also wondering about a reputable shop to perform the split. Thanks from Dakota country. Safety first, then teamwork.

Are these boards you have, or going to buy to split?
For the money you pay to buy a new board and then pay someone like DTM to do a quality split ($500), you can get the Jones Mountain Twin 159 Splitboard for $600 or less right now. Add the cost a Voile universal mountain kit and that would be $760, or $700 for the kit meant for bindings splitboard bindings. Seems like buying a solid board for $300+ then paying $500 to split it is more money for more work. Having someone split a new board for your would be a good value if you really wanted a board that wasn't available (or maybe in this case not available in the size you want, like the T.Rice)
Now if you already have the boards, or can get a killer deal on the solid boards, I'd base the decision on if you like camber or rocker more, or which would be a better tool for the terrain and snow conditions you'll be using the board in. Both boards have rocker and camber, but Jones is more camber (camber underfoot) and T.Rice is more rocker (rocker underfoot), and both have MTX and k-clips.
