Unfortunately I am UK based right now and had only one opportunity to test it on snow in the Alps, mid-March, only on piste, because of disastrous snow conditions* Well, for piste they make HUUUUUGE difference in my opinion. Like in way way better control. Rode several days like that, then removed the additional straps for a while and felt like in cheap old-school soft boot step-ins The straps are from Drake DTM are wide and work pretty well.
*It's funny to ride Never Summer Summit Split only on pistes, but actually I learned a thing or two about control this way. And the wider nose/thinner tail is a recipe for some spectacular high speed falls
a ski strap through the upper slots in the highback and around the ankle cuff of your boot accomplishes the same thing for far less weight, typically referred to as a booster strap. cheers
I've thought about doing the same thing with my orange rubber ski straps since I'm already carrying a pair of them anyways. I think I'd only do it for long traverses and take them off for riding.
