Been lurking on here for a while
Love this place!! I've had so much great advice from hugely friendly and obliging people. Haven't felt comradery like this in the snowboard world for a really, really long time now. Stoked to have found you all
Managed to pick up a Gnu Rider's Choice pretty cheaply late last season and then started saving for the usual, Voile DIY kit, bindings etc. Lucked out big time when Mr Mudd aka Rughty was selling a few pairs of his amazing bindings a few months ago then decided to go for some Karakoram K clips in place of the OG Voile ones....
Some pictures
After the split got my friend who owns a fibreglass company to seal the cut edges. He used resin to seal the edge then gelcoat for a pretty damn nice finish!
Really happy the way it turned out, glad that nothing turned ugly for me(beginners luck!) and can't wait for Scotland to finally get some snow soon.
Would like to take this oppertunity to thank in no uncertain terms: Ken Mudd, Bryce @Karakoram and Peter(Pedro Del')

I've never ridden anything other than a traditional cambered board so looking foirward to it

You split it before trying it out? That's brave! What are your angles / width set at? Did you set it back or go for twin set up?
Yep!! I wanted to use something with Magnatraction for the windblown icy crap thta's all too common over here and the season had finished by the time I'd saved enough money
Still riding my usual angles/width : centered stance +12 front and -9 rear 22" wide. You reckon I'll struggle?

nah thats perfect, I ride mine +15 -9, 24", but I have pretty long legs, you are going to love this board on the windblown icy crap like a steak knife through butter

Cool!! Sounds perfect. I'm only wee, been using that stance for nigh on 15 years or so Really hoping I don't encounter much of the boilerplate this season that makes snowboarding in Scotland so much fun!

So finally had my first outing the other weekend.
Absolutely delighted with how everything worked and how easy it was skinning straight up faces. Rughty's bindings were faultless, so mad props to you Ken - thanks!!
Found Banana Couloir which is a fairly well known spot out the back of Glenshee my local resort.
Other than the short blast down to it's mouth this was the christening for my split. Snow was pretty good and I was stoked how well it rode. Don't know quite what I was expecting(in a bad way) but it felt far better that some solids I've ridden over the years
So now have the bug so badly, and cannot wait til it gets colder and starts snowing again over here!!!
