Hi!

Hope people will chime in on what boards they feel will be the best ones for DIY.
Nice to know what to look out for in the second hand shop etc..

Anything stiff with a wood core is best in my experience. Once you cut a board it loses it's stiffness a bit and anything w/ out a solid core will cause you to do some fill-in on the exposed cut edge.

Burton boards are the only boards w/ metal inserts running in the middle of the board so that can cause a little extra work but is still doable w/ a carbide tipped, nail cutting blade and some JB Weld to fill in the halved inserts.
