Anything stiff with a wood core is best in my experience. Once you cut a board it loses it's stiffness a bit and anything w/ out a solid core will cause you to do some fill-in on the exposed cut edge.
Burton boards are the only boards w/ metal inserts running in the middle of the board so that can cause a little extra work but is still doable w/ a carbide tipped, nail cutting blade and some JB Weld to fill in the halved inserts.
