I've got the DIY kit on the way. It still feels very, very wrong to cut a perfectly good snowboard in half, but hopefully it will be worth it. I've looked at the DIY video linked from the voile website and have a couple of questions: *Are there any reason for using the spar varnish on the cut? I would think that using epoxy and fiberglass would make for a more durable seal that never wear out. *Isn't it customary to seal the interior of drilled holes for the hooks and nose clips? I would think that you risk water getting into the wood core which could deteriorate and ruin the board.
Yes yes yes. You know how to do it the right way! A good quality laminating epoxy will saturate the wood around the holes and toughen them up. No one wants a sloppy split board half way through the season. Adding glass to the inside edge may be overkill but go for it.
