Hi, Considering making a diy split for my wife to learn on. Was going to go all out for a Prior, but finances are tighter than expected as we just bought a house! I have two options for her. First, she is 5'2 128 lbs and a low intermediate rider with some limited backcountry experience. I have a Lib Tech T. Rice 157 that I could split, however I think it would be a bit unwieldy for her while riding. The second option would be to split her learner board, a K2 Rocker 143. The 143 is definitely short, but she rides it in powder alright and the full rocker shape makes for easy turns. Any thoughts on a split this short? Anyone do something similar?

My lady is about 5'8 125lbs and rides a Gnu Barret Christy 156 (traditional camber) as her split. I would see if she can shred the 157 before cutting it, the riding is no different so the only "learning" portion is the touring, in which case the board itself wont really change all that much.
