Just got done doing a little routering, dremeling, and bending. Each one is 1 gram heavier than the Sparks. Not pretty, but pretty close. :)

Nice job on the copy. Came out really, really similar. Now you just need to learn how to anodize them ; )

If you look on www.eastwood.com or an autobody supply, you may be able to find dip coatings. ;-)

Just put em on my wife's skins. Stitched on a triangle of cordura to ease out of the flat area of the ski onto the tail rise, and sewed the strap right between the fabric layers. We'll see how they hold up. I may 'armor' the cordura and stitching with a layer of urethane glue.

You could paint a bunch of seam grip onto the fabric. Probably have the same effect as using glue methinks. Nice work all around.

Yep. Aquaseal and Seam Grip are the exact urethane glues I had in mind. Aquaseal being slightly more viscous than Seam Grip, but chemically basically the same. Super durable and flexible stuff, and even slippery when wet. Bonus. :)

Wise choice with the Aquaseal. I've used that to fix packrafts so can attest to it's flexibility.

I finally did the Sparks knockoff thing.

I used the Black diamond kit with straps and smash-with-hammer rivets.
I got a piece of thin aluminum from a friend and cut out the parts with a big drill bit, jig saw. Used a polish wheel on a grinder and file to clean up.

I've been thinking of doing this for a while now. Nice work.

I probably wont get around to it until I have real trouble with my skins sticking

No different from the stock Sparks. Awesome! :) Totally solid. I made a few sets. I'm using some, as is my wife, and I even gave a set to my neighbor.

any idea how many days you have on them? I suppose the weakest part of it really would either be the stitching or the rubber adjustable piece. Again, looks great!
