I like to clip the board together with the skins on for packing. So a rubber lined recess gives the skin hooks clearance.

Some may hate this idea for holding the skins at the tail but it worked flawlessly last year. It's stainless screws and finishing washers to clamp the skins. No worries just a little slow.
