Who remembers big wheels? As vice president in charge of MOBI (Ministry Of Bad Ideas), a subsidiary of the JBDA (Juneau Beer Drinker Association) I think I've come up with a doosy, but I need some help. Every year there is a bike relay race from Haines JCT (YT) to Haines (AK) http://www.kcibr.org/. I figure why not do the race on a big wheel? The problem is that these are not sized for adults and there construction is unlikely to survive a 150mil road race. I was thinking a metal frame with pneumatic tires (big one in front with pedals and two small ones in the back. I figure a regular MTB front tire with cranks mounted on it would work for the front and some wagon wheels would work for the back but I need some Ideas of how to tie the whole thing together a.k.a. a frame. Anyone out there in DIY land got some ideas?
Thanks

Key element was the hand brake on right rear PLASTIC wheel. The affect of grinding plastic on pavement and using hand levered friction is undeniable. Not sure you could open molds for adult size. Wouldn't be the same with pneumatic tires, it would be tragic like Diggler
This is true, but plastic tires won't get you 150 miles on Yukon roads. Since I plan on towing a wager full of beer behind me it's not like I'd be doing power slides anyway. Though that would be one funny jack knife.
