I'm considering replacing Voile pucks with FirstLight pucks on a factory split. Has anyone done this with any success? I don't want to add any t-nutz to my board, just use the two factory holes per side. I'm worried two screws per side isn't enough and I might actually damage my deck.

I can't seem to keep my Voile's tight and I think this will solve that and look cleaner.

Please let me know if you have any insight. For reference here is an image:

Did I email you the link to the instructions?
Two screws will be fine. they will be in the middle of the puck once cut and they don't damage the board at all.
If you need any help let me know.

Cheers

Adam-
I don't remember getting instructions but it's pretty self explanatory. I was just going to reference the current screw positions and drill/countersink a hole in the plate. I just was unsure if this was a better DIY puck that you'd want three holes in our if it could be used for a factory split. Do you have any examples of factory boards you've installed your pucks on and the longevity?

Adam

I am interested in how you mount your canted pucks.
Will post the link to the instructions here or PM me the link?

Guys
Some install photos from Firstlight factory.
The green pucks are flat and the black ones are canted.

Some customer pics

you can see these guys drilled holes for the third screw. I bumped into them this year in the BC and they still hadn't mounted the third screw as it wasn't needed!

I can take the Voile's off your hands. I am looking for some.

What are the reasons for using a firstlight puck over a voile puck. Is this something that is considered an upgrade for those using spark binders?

Fewer holes to drill in your diy and no slippage

Do the voile DIY pucks do the same thing?

bcall8 Two reasons:

1. It's difficult for me to get the stance I want with the Voile's. For all the adjustment they offer I struggle to get them set up right. You could blame me, but I've literally pulled my hair out trying to line them up right.

2. My Voile's are not tight enough, even after I get them adjusted the way I like they move. I could shave the hardware, because I think the screws are bottoming out in the board inserts, but I'm just fed up. If the Edison would have been released I would have swapped over. The Voile pucks are the weakest link in my set up.

Zude: I don't know that the DIY pucks are designed to work in a factory split, they need three fasteners and I'm trying to avoid drilling a factory split.

Adam FirstLight: The images you show have a few pucks on the factory holes with third hole in the puck that wasn't used. Why is that?

I guess it's worth cutting and drilling my FirstLight pucks, they'll be used for something down the road if it's no good, I just wanted to be sure the two fasteners were enough and that I wouldn't pull an insert out of my deck mounting this way. I'll post a report after it's done.

probably these pucks would flex a little more without the added third screw (seem to be designed with the diy split in mind). You could always have a trusted shop tech add a heli-coil for added stiffness no base drilling needed...

I'm just surprised we haven't been able to improve upon these Voile pucks. I really wanted that Edison set up, I want one pair of bad ass binders to use on my splits and solid boards without drilling, Imagine traveling with a board bag that has one splitty, one solid and a pair of binders in it. Ready for anything.

You can already do that if you get a firstlight puck and drill it to suit your solid. Screw the puck top the solid and youre in business.
