Oi!

Remember when bcrider asked for help on the splitboard glossary?

Well, I registered for a wiki on wikia:

Anyone can go in, sign up for an account and just edit the various articles.

We figured the best modus operandi is to just see how it works out.

Basically everyone is supposed to go in and add/edit whatever they want, and eventually our infinite army of splitboarding monkeys will produce some content.

If it turns out that we like this wiki idea for more than just the glossary than we can migrate the wiki into a fully fledged one on the splitboard.com hosts, but for now wikia is a nice way to get a fairly decent wiki service without having to host anything.

I registered and started poking around. I tried to add an image to one of the glossary entires but couldn't figure out how to add a url to show. Read the help but still no luck. I'll keep trying.

To add an image you go to:

http://splitboard.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Upload

and then link to the new image with depending on what filename you gave it when you uploaded

I saw the uploading option, I was trying to hotlink (easier).

Don't feel discouraged if folks don't get over there right away. It might see more interest as the season gets closer. Thanks again.

Wikis generally start slow because adding content when there is nothing to base on is a PITA.

I should have less work pressure soon and will be able to clean things up a bit more and add more content so that contributing will seem fun

As for hot linking-- according to http://help.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Externally_hosted_images we'll need to ask them to add an exception. I suspect this is more trouble than its worth.

Cool. Glad to see something getting started. Am feeling a little guilty about saying I'd try to help out with the glossary and haven't done so yet.
