Has anyone tryed the low tech race from Dyanfit? I was wondering if it would work well as a touring binding for my split. Also, any boots that might be a good for the Dyanfit bindings[/b]

I have not tried the LTR, but i am looking forward to getting a Dynafit toe piece on my split for touring. I just scored a good deal on a pair of Dynafit Zzero 3 boots, so will be replacing my old Raichles with these. I would suggest either the Zzero 3, or the Garmont Megalite as good Dynafit compatible boots for riding. The Zzero 3s are a better fit for a wider forefoot, and the Megalites are better for a narrower fit. I find I have to do some mods to the hard boots to get them to ride well: see the posts RE the Zzero 3 in the boots forum for more info on mods.

I would recommend any of the Scarpa 3 buckle boots. The only mod I and other riders I have talked to feel is needed is to remove the power strap. Other than that they are good to go. I love my Spirit 3's, my girl rides in a pair of Matrix's and I have friends who agree that it's the way to go for BC snowboarding.

I hope I did not create any confusion here: the Zzero 3 does not have to be modded to ride well, I just prefer to get the boot to flex about the same amount medially, laterally, and in forward flex, as a good soft boot (Driver X, Malamute, etc.). To do so requires some mods, unless one is willing to ride the boot in walk mode. I prefer to have forward lean, just like I would with a highback, so I mod the lean adjuster and boot so that the forward flex is not locked in "ski" mode. In other words, after modding, locking in the forward lean still allows the boot to flex forward. No doubt the Scarpa Spirit 3 is also a boot to check out, but I really am looking to save weight, and the Zzero 3 is 2900 gms. a pair, while the Spirit 3 is 3520 gms. a pair. So the Zzero 3 saves 310 gms. (11 ozs.) off of each foot.

Hey Rav, have you confirmed a place that will sell just the toe pieces of the Low Tech Race bindings? I love having the TLT toe pieces on my split, but the weight savings of the titanium in the Low Tech Race sure would be nice!
Great Question, I want to purchase the Dynafit toe piece as well ,and If I am going to fork over the cash, I wanna get the lighest ones... If anyone finds out , let me know...
Oh yeah I love my Scarpa F-1s , they feel so nice in the tour and the ride down....Wish they make a splitter model, with a little less cuff, making them even lighter...
