I finally (I mean finally!) sacked up and purchased my first split (06-07 Voile Freeride). After setting it up I realized there is no way I am switching my bindings back and forth between my resort board and this thing. I don't have a lot of cash left to drop after purchasing the board and want to get a decent simple set of bindings. I am looking at the 2007 Ride EX and the Bent Metal Missionary. I have used various incarnations of the Ride Ex since I started snowboarding and have never had a problem. Not to say I have been extremely impressed but for the price I have found them to be sufficient and durable. After cruzing the message boards here I have discovered that many strap users raving about the Bent Metals because they are simple and lightweight. A couple of questions about these bindings. How does the forward lean adjustment work? Can it be adjusted on the fly?

From what I know the bent metal bindings all have a no tool adjustable lean, using a small rectangle that is mounted on the high back off center. You rotate this block and each one of the four positions is at a different radius from the mount point, effectively giving you 4 different forward lean settings.
Also, the Ride EX bindings are pretty damn heavy. I've never weighed the Missionary, though. Aluminum baseplate bindings will flex way less than plastic bindings when mounted on the slider plate, so I think they are a good choice.

there is a brand new Ride binding vor 07 -08 . it is a light wight with .full aluminium body. and top buckels , short highback.silvershining , like scratching alu.
and no center disk ore any hole for a 4x 4 3x3 bindingshols.
my favorit for next saision . only to drill self hols in it - and mount it on the voile slider - and safe some wight....
I mounted Burton Cap straps on my Bent Metal Alloys. Takes a little trim and you will have to drill out a larger opening in the Burton strap in order to accomadate the BM screw. Just take your time on only remove what has to be removed. If you have smaller screws you may just have to trim a bit.
