Did I get myself into!! K. I just bought a voile 166. Looks super pretty, but also wayyy scary!! It's pretty heavy huh?? Like with all that metal stuff? Craziness!! Everyone swears this will be sooo much better than hiking up with a board strapped to my back and snowshoes strapped to my feet...but I'm totally confused on this binding gig...
I need bindings....do I use normal snowboarding bindings? When I check out the Voile site, they recommend these crazy looking bindings that look like how I attach my crampons to my glacier boots when I'm climbing Mt's...not something I'd be able to keep on when I'm trying to carve a turn or two!?!
Seriously...am I missing something? Is it a preference? I don't even know where to start with this stuff!! HELP!!! PLEASE!!!

Your soft boot bindings will work just fine. They attach to the slider plate (metal rectangle) with T-nuts. Super simple. Some snowboarders, especially high altitude snowboard mountaineers, prefer hardboots with the kind of bindings you saw on the Voile website.
Don't worry, you'll be super stoked. You'll be amazed how easy skinning (i.e. climbing) is!!! Maybe one of the sb.com's NW faithful would even take you out on your first spin.
