Has anyone done a detailed comparison between the original and Alpha versions, as well as what is in the pipeline for the next gen?
I know that Alphas have canting and a different attachment. Also heard that there may be a heel lock coming, etc. - very interesting!
I am asking because I can get a first gen used now at a great price, but currently down for ACL recovery for several months so might be better for me to just wait to get an Alpha, or even wait out the next gen

I think the locking mechanism for the ride mode on the Alpha is way better than the 'detente' pin locking system on the 1st gen. Easier to handle in snowy conditions and with gloves on, and less likely to get iced up. That said, the 1st gen is burlier and stiffer, and once you get used to the nuances of the locking system it works great. I sold my 1st gens for less than half what I paid for them, and I've seen similar deals out there, so you can score 1st gens for a great price I'm sure. Good luck --

Exactly, read Jamie's post, a very detailed comparison. As far as what might be up for 14/15, that would be top secret. Both the 12/13 and 13/14 Phantoms come with canting. If you are on FaceBook, be sure to like the Phantom page for news...
