I have been searching for this but have not found any solution:
I'm riding a Jones Solution 163w with Karakoram with crampons and I wonder if they will survive going up steep chutes etc with ONLY binding and crampon?
Meaning that I will have one or two ice axes and the board without bindings on my backpack.
Anyone?
It would be handy to use it on hard steep snow like this picture below. (Hemsedal/Norway, a few days ago)

The crampons have no points that are not parallel to the sides of your boots. Side hilling may work, but front pointing seems like a problem. I was also surprised by how much the crampons flexed up front. It seemed like it would not take much tweaking to get the crampon to pop off the bolt head they slide over as the front attachment point. A single step on a rock hidden in the snow and it seemed like the crampon would blow right off. In an emergency they may suffice, but I would not plan on using them for that purpose regularly.

I second philip.ak's reasoning. Without the front points they won't hold very well and they flex enough to make them scary. If you're to the point where you need crampons the last thing you want to worry about is them coming off.

The BD crampons are OK but a little narrow for a snowboard boot in front. The toe attachment system is such that in some cases it can pull off to the side. Though rare, this is the last thing you want when you're in a place where you need crampons to begin with.
I believe the Camp ones are a bit wider. If you can find some old Stubai Ultralights, those things work great.

I asked Jones about crampons at the further premier. He uses the BD contacts as they're his sponsor. He has small feet, and said on one climb they fell off like 20 times. I've got some old school ones..I think they're salewa's for 5 bucks at a mountaineers outdoors fest that are fully adjustable (length and width) and fit my size 11.5s great
