Guys
I've got my hands on a Set of Karakoram Split 30's for this upcoming season.
Testing to see what they are like as I'm stocking them this year.
Having some issues with setup.
I cant seem to find any installation guide online so have done what seems to be logical.
A few issues straight away.
1.Heal alignment way off compared to toe
2.Toe ladder very tight to get range of motion.
3.The alignment of the binding mounts in ride mode looks too far apart.

See photos below
1.
Heal over hand is much more that toe side and I have tried to adjust the location of the base parts in relation to side supports.

2.
You can see the indents on the plastic ladders in these photos

3.
The pin only just locates in the other board half bracket

I'm waiting on the Brothers to get back to me with some answers, but let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks

Try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4dlLPlpRxA

As to the heel overhang, if you have heel cup in the forward position (which would slide your boot forward a tiny bit), that's all you get. You cannot reposition the binding mounting plates on the board: they only have one position (aside from rotation).

The toe ladders don't pivot down very low. If you ride them for a while maybe they will deform a little to allow you push them down more.

Once you do the adjustment described in the video, you should be set up correctly. All you need is for the heel mounting plate to overlap the toe side half of the board a little bit, and have the locking pin from the heel portion of the binding to engage the toe mounting plate a little bit (until the non-ramped portion of the pin touches the toe binding plate slot).

Good luck.

I have done this but the base plates on the board don't seem to line up very well.
Might be the prior?
Will try on another board.
This seems to be a disadvantage of the system.
The voile puck are so infinitely adjustable it suits the manufactures fluctuations in hole spacing.
Chime in with any other comments.
Cheers

Firstlight,

I had a similar problem with my Prior Spearhead 178. For some unknown reason, the spacing of the insert screws on the Prior were slightly off and did not allow the Karakoram base mounts to line up correctly. Tyler and Bryce hooked me up with a special set of toe pieces to fix my issue.

As you pointed out, this is one of the advantages of the slider pucks as they can compensate for any deviation in insert placement on any board.

Both systems are great and have positives and negatives, but I think the bigger thing that should be looked at is a true and accurate insert patern standard.

cheers and hope you get your issue resolved,
sandy

Did you have to send the measurements or do they have a "Prior version" of the toe plate?

Cheers

Adam,
I was fortunate enough to live about an hour and a half away from them, so I dropped my board off to Bryce so he could fit them perfectly. Sadly, that might be a bit difficult for you, but they may still have the measurements that they used for my board so it won't hurt to ask.

cheers,
sandy

I Might have to accept that they wont fit and go back to hardboots for the prior!
I'll throw them on another board.

Makes me wonder how many others are having problems with alignment

This is probably how I was able to use the Voile hooks when I thought they would need the K clips

Cheers

Adam,
I sold the board and bindings to a buddy in Japan. I will ask him to send me a pic of the modified toe plate.

sandy
