I can't find anymore info on these guys other than the Transworld Business post and video on their website. I need to take off the backs on my forces and see what this is about.

I learned to ride w/ no highbacks before stepping to a set of baseless pbs w/ lowbacks. I actually did ok on those but the backless ones I felt lucky I never snapped my ankles off.

i think their is more to this, some kind of change your stance while riding.
Guy I knew from snowkite days did a little mod to his snowboard for kiting that allowed him to rotate his bindings/stance while he rode. Few guys been doing it for years now, never seen it for downhill, its more applicable to kiting. Was an easy mod.

I think the baseplates of these bindings actually have a small tunnel that allows them to pivot toe to heel, similar to the idea of a skate truck, they are just coincidentally being ridden without a high back

The comparison to skate trucks is a little weird. A skate truck allows the deck to lean (axial roll) relative to the ground, but it also TURNS (yaw) the wheels relative to the deck's axis. That is why the board turns when you lean the deck, and does not simply droop to the side and then continue straight ahead. This binding does no such (yaw) thing. And a snowboarder is already able to lean the deck. This binding just seems to dilute that ability to the degree it flexes.
Binding manufacturers claim to spend all their time eliminating flex and giving the rider a more direct connection to the deck. Now suddenly flex is all important to transferring energy to the edge. I should reserve judgement until I ride the system, but my first impression is, "wow that sounds gimmicky."
