have any of you tried the naxo touring bindings? if you have, i'm curious to know what your thoughts on the pivot system are. how is the lateral rigidity in tour mode? if it's not so good, would you attribute that to the dual pivot design or just the build of the binding? how do you think that skinning performance compares to that of the single pivot touring bindings out there? any preference between the two?

I tour with a guy who uses naxos and he is frequently heard swearing at them. You might also try the tech talk forum on TGR, but search first (JONG! (j/k)).

You might try looking at Lou Dawson's Blog Wild Snow http://www.wildsnow.com

For Naxo FAQ see http://www.wildsnow.com/bindings/naxo-bindings-backcountry/ http://www.wildsnow.com/bindings/naxo-b ... ckcountry/

Dawson and his crew extensively test AT bindings, and have a bias for the Dynafit tech bindings; for good reason, Dynafits work well in the backcountry.

Naxos were the new great binding until people actually used them -- long list of problems have killed the reception.

I just bought a pair of marker f12 tours which seem pretty solid but I only have a few days on them so far. It was hard to choose the markers over the fritchie's because they are tried and true in the backcountry. I got the markers cause I like their non touring bindings and the dukes are fairly well regarded.

Can't chime in about the dynafits but I know 2 people who tib/fib fractured at slow speed in them, though overtightening was a likeky factor.

i'm not really looking for opinions on the overall quality of the bindings themselves, just on what people thought of the dual pivot system for touring. i've got no plans to switch over to two planks anytime soon.
