Finally did it. After some indoor testing I'm stoked! Thanks for all the posts on this topic! Went real easy once I removed the top cuff. Drilled out and filed the slot smooth. Really looking forward to testing it out. Prob next weekend if the weather holds around here.
Still have the solid position for any locked out skiing (when/if needed)

Cool, now the tongue and how tight the buckles are will define the forward flex resistance of the boot. Make sure that the boot cannot over flex, ie: some boots if they are allowed to flex too far forward may have problems (buckles bottoming on each other, forward lean bar popping out of its track, etc,). Also, to protect your ankles, you do not want the boot to be able to flex too far forward (and allow your ankle to break).

Barrows- Thanks for the info. I have adjusted the alignment of the buckles on the cuff to allow for a good flex and not bottoming out and/or crunching each other.
I was please to find the bar was long enough that there is no way it can come out of the track.
So nice to have the high back feeling and the freedom of movement in the forward lean!! These boots are great and they are just getting better, MOD by MOD

b0ardski- Did not do the cuff mod, yet... i think barrows had a thread or a link on that from the bomber forum. I had popped out the inside original rivets of the cuff during some resort riding and have replaced them with a chicago screw style replacement from the alpine shop that I bought the boots from. Its a sweet replacement set and will prob get an extra to have in the pack. The micro adjust washer nut combo on the outside of the cuff was put right back in place. Not sure how much lateral flex I want in the boots just yet. My set up has the full dynafit binding (including the heel) so I want to keep that lateral support to "ski/traverse/yoyo" when needed.

JaX- Will have to look into the Mega Lite tongue...The Mega R tongue is pretty stiff and have removed it all together for my back foot.... might do the same for the front now that I have the forward lean MOD complete. one step at a time

Since going for the forward lean I thought why stop there...
I have taken an old, semi retired Option Super Charger 72 out of the rock board quiver and set it up with new angles that I hope to duplicate on my split.
I was at 30 and 30 degrees and kinda felt like I was taking a road bike on a down hill course. Over a couple of years I got it somewhat dialed but still felt kinda weird (to me). Now with the solid high back feel in the boots I went back to my normal soft stance which is 13 and 3 degrees. I thought I would have to much drag since I'm in a 29 shell (12US) but the extra wide Option SC + the elevated Catek binders made for a truly awesome ride. Way more carvy then before and way more powerful.
Thanks again for all those who have posted this boot mod. For those that are thinking about it - Stop thinking and get drilling! This is a must have MOD in my opinion for maintaing/achieving a "snowboarding" feel. The sweet just got sweeter!
