ive been riding decade sl's this season. So far they work great--comfy, speed lacing is on point, stiff enough, but still a bit of flex.

I can't speak for those specifically, but I bought a pair in 2001 Northwave Kevin Jones, and they finally are breaking down this year. So if they are the same quality, its probably worth whatever they cost.

I use northwave decade, mostly because that's what the bootfitting shop here likes to work with the most.

I'm also very happy with them.

They seem pretty durable but I've only had about 30 days on them so far.

I think the nicest bit is the quality of the lacing system (which isn't the same as what you linked to) compared to other quick lacing systems I've used before (esp. the salomon one). It locks by flipping cams instead of something springloaded, so it doesn't slip, and it's very adjustable.

I'm on my second pair of Kevin Jones. Love em for resort but too heavy for b.c. imo. I thought NW was out of business or something. I've owned about 5 pairs of their boots. I hope they make a comeback, but for now love my malamutes for b.c.

I've been riding Northwave boots for the past 12 or so years. I've had a few pairs last maybe 4 seasons. They're the only boot that can really lock my heal down, yet there's no pressure points, and I know I can put them on outta the box with no modifications and they'll be comfy. I get whichever model has an 8 flex - I'm about to buy a pair of Decades. I'd much prefer regular laces, as they work and can be fixed easily. I'm a bit skeptical of all the new lacing systems, especially for boots you'll be wearing in the backcountry, but it seems all the companies are doing this type of thing. And the soles are not ideal for hiking in sketchy, icy spots. Don't know why they can't put a burly tread pattern on their boots.

Agreed. All that I really want in a boot is a moderately shanked last that can take crampons, a sole with some knarl tread, and an Intuition Liner that is heat moldable.

For some reason I just don't like the 'Uber stiff boots that are currently available (like the Malamutes and Driver X's).
