Sorry Vapor...FYI Recently bought a pair of TLT5 Mountains from snowinn.com for a decent price. They sold the boot for $466 USD with $35 shipping. Snowinn.com is based in Spain. Didn't have to pay any custom taxes or duties and the boots arrived in 4 days. Thumbs up on this transaction.

Yeah, the mounting holes do not line up, so the holes in the slider plate have to be filed, or in some cases, new holes drilled to fit the Raceplate toe and heel pieces. Also note that the slider plate is only long enough to accommodate boot sizes up to about 28.5/29 with a direct mount.

Any chance you could post some photos of the Burton race plates mounted?
Cheers

I am on dial up here (mountains above Boulder, CO) so the process required to post photos is a little difficult. Send me an e-mail and I am happy to send a couple of pics back when I get on a high speed connection with my laptop:

Anybody tried combination such as:

DYNAFIT TLT MOUNTAIN TF-X or any very light hard boot
TARGA ASCENT ELLE S/S or any plate binding

How is the downhill feeling, not too bad compared to softboot with strap bindings?

Well that is a good price. I do tend to buy some things online and other from local shops.hopefully the small guy stays in business.hate to see a huge walmart with a desert of closed shops/for lease signs around it.

New TLT5's on the way! :bananas:

I will likely have a set of TLT4 Race Pro's up for sale, size 27. They look like this - http://www.backcountry.com/dynafit-tlt- ... ro-tf-boot Great shape - I split time on them and my soft boots over one season - let me know if you're interested, I'll sell them cheap.

Zak super interested in your old TLT 4's, I'm not sure if I could fit a 9 I wear a ten but would love to see especially if your selling cheap. Just bought some DEELUXE boots but I'm with you and like to split between the two, just couldn't afford new hardboots. Let's talk soon.

For those riding these boots - are they sized accurately, or do they tend run large or small relative to one's foot size?

I'd say they run maybe a half size small - dynafit's size chart says 27 mondopoint is a 9, but I wear an 8.5 street shoe and their 27 fits me great. 26.5 was too short. I think the half sizes are just thinner liners in the same shell - i.e., the 26.5 is a thinner liner in a 26 shell.

I wear size 10.5 salomon GTX trail running shoes and size 11.5 Burton Driver X's. The 29 is perfect lengthwise, and very snug midfoot.
On another note, the walkmode in these boots is amazing. Night and day better then touring in the Burtons.

Regarding size... I measure 10.5 USA, and the boot fitters at my local shop put me in a TLT 5 Mountain size 28.

On another note, I just finished modifying a burton race plate binding to the voile slider plate. Seemed like there is some interest in this thread in pairing this binding set up to the TLT5. I'll post some pictures of the build process and finished product. Here is the link (I put the thread in the binding forum)

Another sizing data point:

I am a US 10.5/11 in most stuff, and am in a 28 TLT5. I woudl not want to go to a larger shell, as the close fit and anatomical shape of this boot is a big part of it's high performance.

Now this might be a ridiculous question, I don't know yet, but would these boots perform good without switching my spark bindings? Can I ride these boots in my regular bindings? Since I've never seen nor heard of this I'll assume no, but what do you think?

I'm not a gear head, just a BC snow fanatic. I'm relatively new to spliting but not to riding and certainly not to exploring the backcountry! That said, I NEED new boots, been riding some old burtons for what must be the last 8 years or so (it's foolish, I know, but I just never really paid my boots much attention until a 10 day BC splity tour last spring in which I struggled to maintain dry feet.)

With the release of the spark boot, that's the direction I am leaning but, wow, people really seem to love these boots! And I will certainly be needing something capable of steep rock and ice bootin both with and without crampons. The lighter weight, the better!

Cheers
