I spend a lot of time on different skiing blogs and forums, and I have to say that this is my favorite. There may not be as much content on this site, but at least I can read the threads on here and enjoy myself. I don’t know what it was about this season, but the other sites had quite a few issues. Mainly trolls and just random dumb asses ranting about nothing. the problem with the internet is you have time to think about what you are saying. Everyone tries to make themselves sound witty and better than the last guy. For instance the wasatch sno geeks thread on Teletips had about five different trolls all talking shit on one another. Although some of the post were funny, I had a hard time reading through them. Tetonat.com was another one. I grew up riding Targhee and Jackson and for the most part enjoyed everyone that I met up there. However the attitude from JHMR locals on the blog is insane(not saying all locals are like that) . Go read the post on “JHMR Bans Snowballs” and you’ll see what I mean. Anyway thanks to everyone on here for not acting like children.

Amen. I don’t read as many other boards, but I enjoy this one. I think it might have to do with the respect level and genuine stoke that everyone here seems to have for snowboarding and the mountains and other users.

I agree completely! This site is my personal favorite and the one I spend the most time on. It’s really a credit to bcrider for all the work he’s put into it. This is definitely a tightknit community where everyone generally treats each other with respect. Definitely more assholes on other sites :twocents:

Yeah, this is becoming my goto board mostly because I’m splitting more now than riding the clownwire (that still makes me smile!)

    SPIRNGTIME IS FOR SPLITTING!

+1. I got sick of the way people treat each other especially on Teton Gravity forums. It seems over there its just a race to see who can call people out the fastest before the rest of the group chimes in. In the end I still never figured out what JONG meant.

This forum seems to be way more forgiving and positive. Especially when we newbs ask questions that have been asked over and over.

+1 (or however many have agreed!)

It appears we have a TGR style thread growing on C02 emmissions and cap and trade though…in case y’all get withdrawals 😉

This place (imho anyway) is all about stoke, and sharing stoke, and the TRs are as good here as any other forum I’ve seen.

I do like TT though, and TAY…I just like splitboard.com more :thatrocks:

Clownwire is a trademark of mine…you need to pay me money like voile to use it. I would like it in unmarked 100’s. Thank you.

i dont want to do any injustice to BCR and his as well as others efforts to get the site up and keep it going but as much as it is his baby, i think it is also now all of us also posting that helps to make this place what it is.

i used to read the other bb’s when i had a slacker job and could blow hours surfing the net. there is some good stuff there if you filter though the BS. but there is SOOOOOOOOOOO much bs. please please keep that in mind so we dont go in the same direction!

having met a fair number of folks doing the posting here i can say there are some genuinely good people behind the silly screen names.

    thanks to ALL!

There might be less content here than at other sites, but its quantity vs quality. When the quantity is “JONG! JONG!! NEEERRRRRDDDD!!!!!” it’s pointless. I prefer seeing pictures and TRs and useful hints and tidbits.

BTW, JONG = Jerk Off Noob Gaper

That’s the only thing I ever learned on TGR

I like http://www.splitboard.com because when someone was in a position make a quick buck by being opportunistic about an internet registration mistake, the value in the splitboard stoke/information sharing community was inherently greater and we got sb-for-real.com back!

I would like to re-iterate all that has been said. Once I got over my own fear of meeting new people..I realized it was all stoke on here. It’s what snowboarding is to me..REAL. Iam stoked. Splitting in the Sierras makes me fee like Snowshoe Thompson. Google him..he was a badass,,although he didnt know he could slap his skis together,,he’d a been as stoked as we all are if he did!

I’m really pleased that Colorado guy decided to do the right thing. That was a class act, and if Chris hadn’t built and maintained this over the years, with sponsors and users advocating for him, I don’t know if it would have happened. I’m quite certain it wouldn’t have happened if this place were a noisy, testosterone-soaked sprayathon — it’s a credit to Chris and everyone who uses the board that the norm is exactly the opposite.

wow splitboard.com is reading a lot more like TGR these days. too bad. but i guess that is what happens when you get a bunch of JONGs on the site. 😛

Funny you should mention that. I was just thinking this yesterday. Things are looking more hostile.

😳 i am sorry for getting a little rowdy this morning (but I’m not sorry to russman, it needed to be said). i generally don’t like acting like a tgr asshat.

i really do love this place, i spend an inordinate amount of time reading here. i love the stoke from every corner of the planet, big and small. the general excitement for all things splitboarding, and the general respect for everyone, noobs to pros, makes for the best vibe of any snow related message board i know of.

    cheers :guinness:

I like sb.com cuz Tim Leary said, “Find the Others,” the implication being “Find the Others (that are like you).” I’m stoked to have met up with a bunch of other splitters from this site.

I like sb.com cuz I can post here w/o getting flamed repeatedly by strangers.

I like sb.com because skiing is only for the uphill part.

I like sb.com for the “View Active topics” button.

I like sb.com cuz even when yall get all fussy with each other, I still feel like around a campfire and some whiskey there a decent chance you’d all wind up buddies.

I like sb.com cuz boardporn gets me off way more than skiporn.

I like sb.com cuz it helps foster communication for better equipment development.

I like sb.com cuz it makes me feel like I’m an adolescent skaterat making zines again.
