    I have been riding in the front range for the past three years, mainly Berthoud areas and Jones Pass. My main ski partner is hit or miss this year due to a new job up in N. Dakota so I am looking to get out with someone if anyone goes to these areas and likes to go early. I have kids and pretty much go dawn patrol on the weekends and back before lunch. At least I don’t hit the traffic. If anyone is interested in going early, shoot me a PM. I have taken the Avy 1 class and have all the gear. I don’t do anything overly technical, I am mainly looking for some good powder turns. I am in decent shape and go most every weekend. I live in Evergreen and can carpool from the Evergreen park and ride or further into the mountains.

    Thanks
    Dale

    sounds like a good match for me except for those tight schedule constraints could be hard to meet… although I would be willing to give it a try. How early are you talking?

    @dmurphy48 I just moved up to Evergreen from Denver with wife and kid. All my partners are down in Denver, so looking for new local riding partners to carpool with. I can occasionally get out on the weekday but am more of a weekend warrior as well. Dawn patrol is no problem for me, better to hit it early. I have Avy 1 from CMS up in Estes/RMNP last year. I’ve mostly been splitting around Berthoud last 2-3 years and have some experience at Jones, Geneva and RMNP. I’ve recently got some new guide books with some routes I’d love to check out. Riding for 18 years, former resident of Breck, Keystone and Mammoth before that. Have all the gear and try to practice often (brand new BCA Tracker 3 that needs some practice time). I tend to keep it pretty mellow, floral park zone etc. Maybe meet up in Evergreen for a beer sometime soon to meet and possibly hash out a plan?

    *I’m just coming off a sprained MCL (occurred at Bert on 11/15) so I’m a little slower than usual, been taking it easy focusing on PT for the last few weeks. But looking to get back out right after/around the holidays.

    @deagol i NEED to get out, been about 2 weeks since venturing up Watrous Gulch from Herman’s Gulch TH. I’m in Evergreen and am thinking about heading over to Geneva Basin area, mellow skin up and take a few laps on the old ski area and/or hike up a little assess Square Top and some of the lines down to duck lake. Need to confirm with my wife & kid, but really itching to get out. What are you thinking?

    If you guys make it up to geneva give a shout about the conditions! And how far the road is plowed. Im just up the road in fairplay and was kinda wondering how it was down that way. The cabin at the top (old patrol hut) is pretty killer! Ive spent a few differnet nights up there, great location!

    Sean,

    I would join you if I didn’t have a family commitment. Hope you have a good one. Chase & I were able to make it to Geneva Basin today, road was dry all the way to ski area. The snow was kind of nasty, to be honest. there was a half to quarter inch layer of bullet-proof over facets and under sastrugi up higher. I took some pics, but they turned out very blurry for some reason. The positives were it was great to get out and meet a new friend and I got to try out my new crampons (never thought I would need them in February).

    Here are the only pics I got, which do sort of show the situation…

    I texted Chase, still waiting to hear back, but I’ll assume you wore him out! Thanks for the beta

    I think he said he had to work tomorrow ??

    Ugg, can’t figure out how to load pics.. have tried all sorts of things.. the pics are good for beta only, the snow was pretty bad there, aesthetically and all.

    We did have a good time, though. Did some much needed beacon practice.

    @broken08 sorry didn’t see a text come through. Probably heading up to Berthoud tomorrow, I’m starting to feel a little “sick” with all this snow falling. 😉

    Hey everyone;
    gonna be out in Silverton this upcoming weekend for their opening day with the girlfriend. We’ll be riding Silverton mountain on Saturday, but hoping to get out onto Red Mountain pass on Sunday. I was hoping someone could give us some good beta on the area. Neither of us have really skied Red Mountain Pass before, wanting to keep it a little mellow and safe. Any info would be much appreciated. If you happen to be a local and/or will be in the area, we’d buy you a beer or three if you wanted show us around or just point out some runs.

    Send me a PM if you can help out. Thanks.

    On a side note;
    I’m a local in Evergreen, off random days (some weekends, some weekdays, work nights so I can sometimes sneak out on days I work) always looking for new people to go riding with. My usual partner just had a baby, and my girlfriend works normal people hours, so I’m flying solo a lot. I go to Berthoud, Buttlers gulch, or Jones pass usually. Although I wouldn’t mind exploring St. Elmo and doing some more stuff off of Monarch pass or Hoosier pass. Have my Avy 1 (and gear of course), in good enough shape for some long days (although I may suggest beer brakes in order to disguise my need to catch my breath). So if you ever need a partner in the front range, hit me up and I’ll probably be able to get out there with you.
