Ok so the last few days have basically confirmed that the good times have arrived. Just got my 1st split and am ready to ditch the snowshoes. I’m based in Seattle but will be looking to find ppl interested in weekend trips (and the occasional “sick” day) anywhere from Baker to Hood. I have avi gear but would like to learn from more experienced types should anyone choose to tolerate my n00biness. Probably will start out w/ simple, well-known routes to get comfy. Let the games begin November 23, 2010 at 10:12 pm #631666 Swampbuster 124 Posts Glad to see this thread has started back up for the 2010-11 season! It’s always great to hook up w/ new riders, learn about new terrain, talk shop, etc. Kewl, I’m in Seattle, too, and get out primarily on the weekends (and for the occassional “sick” day, too). This is my third year splitting, so I know some stuff but still have lots to learn. Let’s try to hook up for a tour sometime soon. Any other Washingtonians out there that want to meet up w/ other local splitters? Bring on the snow! I moved here from Leadville, Co and moved there from Jackson Hole, before that it was 5 years around Portland and Mt. Hood. I get out as much as possible, Sunday was out in the Baker slack/back and it was real nice!!! :headbang: :thatrocks: November 24, 2010 at 2:50 pm #631668 mtnsrfr 21 Posts I’m based on Whidbey island and spend most of my time at Baker. First year splitting after a taste of splitting last year. I’ll be up at baker this weekend if any one wants to hookup. Please send me a PM Thanks! andrew November 29, 2010 at 11:26 pm #631671 a2k 27 Posts I’m in Seattle and am definitely up for getting together for some splitting. I can get out just about any day that they snow’s good (I try to keep my work week flexible in the winter so I can rearrange my schedule around the snowpack). In fact, I was thinking about heading to Hyak on Wednesday 12/1 for a quick “get the legs moving” trip if the freezing level doesn’t get too high. Anyone interested in coming along? December 1, 2010 at 3:46 am #631672 nwboarder82 166 Posts I also live on whidbey island and new to splitboarding. I’m hoping I can get into some action this season. I’m in the process of finishing the DIY kit on my Jones mountain twin. Hopefully can hook with some fellow splitboard some time soon… December 1, 2010 at 10:32 pm #631673 a2k 27 Posts @nwboarder82 wrote: I’m in the process of finishing the DIY kit on my Jones mountain twin. I just moved here from AK this summer, so I haven’t figured out yet where any of the good places are, but I’m definitely up for some trips. Tell me about it, I have yet to see anyone else try to split any of the Jones board. I guess somebody has to try… December 7, 2010 at 11:33 pm #631676 Swampbuster 124 Posts Hello Washingtonians, Anyone interested in making some turns this weekend? I don’t have a set plan in mind yet; just thought I’d throw out the idea and see who’s interested. With the new snow on the way the avy danger might increase, in which case the backcountry might not be the place to be. But if it doesn’t get too crazy, I’d like to get out there. I’m pretty flexible on days. Bring on the snow! Im look at Kulshan ridge or Mazama Dome. If the avi danger is high then in-bounds is always fun. I have a feeling I’m going to end up in-bounds at Baker on Saturday w/ some friends b/c of the conditions, but we’ll see. Let’s hope for the best. Where are you located? Jeri534, how long will you be in the Seattle area? I’m out of town from the 23rd to the 30th for the holidays, but I’ll be available after that for some touring. Ale, that link was awesome! Funny, though…I never see women like that when I’m in L-worth. I must be hanging out in the wrong part of town. December 14, 2010 at 7:37 pm #631684 Swampbuster 124 Posts Looking to get out on Sunday (12/19) for some turns. Not 100% sure yet, but thinking about it. Let me know if any of you are interested. Jeri: sounds good. Maybe we can get out after the new year. Mtnsrfr: yeah, stayed in-bounds last weekend. Only hit Stevens on Friday, but the snow was really good. Hopefully we can hook up soon for some touring. Viewing 20 posts - 1 through 20 (of 87 total) 1 2 … 5 → You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
