    Avalanche feared…

11:05 a.m. — A helicoper on a low-flying search of avalanche debris on Ranger Peak picked up two beacon hits, Jenny Anzelmo-Sarles, Grand Teton National Park spokeswoman, told a News&Guide reporter at the Colter Bay staging area.

This is so fucking bad. 😥

I am hoping against all likely hood that this is not going to turn out how it is looking. Too many people this season.

Hoping for the best, bracing for the worst right now.

Today my heart has been broken. I just rode GTNP with Steve a couple of weeks ago and I cannot believe the news today. Days spent with Steve on Gannett Peak, Ramshorn/6 mile, pow shots in the Park taught me how amazing Steve really is. Fuck, I am going to miss him!

I heard about it this morning and have been hoping for the best even though it isn’t looking good. Steve is a great guy and if the worst is true I will definitely be quite sad.

Rest in Peace, Steve and Chris. I truly enjoyed the one trip that I took with you and feel grateful for the time that you spent being a part of the local mountain (and wider) community.

Very sad news for the backcountry skiing and boarding world. Sincere thoughts to all who knew and loved them.

The splitter / BC community has had lot to cope with and think about this year, with all of this loss.

Very Sad, I hope they didn’t have kids, just makes my heart hurt. What a weird year, was touring Sunday on an epic blue bird pow day and I could’nt even get stoked. All my pits yeilded scary results I’ve never doubted my own decisions more than this year. Thoughts and prayers.

^^^This is exactly how I’ve felt for most of this winter.

Very sad. I feel terrible for anyone/everyone who knows these guys. 😥

Very sad. I really enjoyed the stoke Steve shared with the rest of us through his writings, photography, video, and general enthusiasm for the backcountry and mountains.
He will be missed by many.
    Condolences to family and friends.

Right now, I am struggling to process this. Days spent with Steve were always amazing. I know Steve and Chris would want us to never forget those amazing moments in the mountains and keep riding. For me, I always want to remember Steve on those amazing trips, laughter, and love of the mountains. I am going to miss him tremendously. He was the most solid partner I have ever ridden with. Thank you Steve. “Live to Ski.”

    what the fuck! 😥

I have been a lurker on tetonat.com for ever since the start. Steve’s post and exploits around the Teton’s showed my possibility of backcountry riding besides the boot pack up glory bowl. I check that site on a daily basis. So sad. I hate this year.
