With a little fresh having fallen across the sierras and mystical talks of something called El Nino (wtf is that?), I figured it was time to circle the wagons and see who will out getting after it this winter. I know my self, Cbalke and some others will be trying to get in as many turns as we can, and always love adding to the posse. Would really love to get out in Socal if it actually snows here again and capture some fun out in the San Gorgonio area.

    So who’s in?

PS if this ridge doesn’t break down by end of month we may all want to consider offing our gear for new Mtn bikes….

    Yew!

I’m either headed to Tahoe or down to Redlands for winter. If I end up down there I would be all over going to San Gorgonio and anywhere else down there.

RAD!! Weather permitting might try and do some backpacking in the area in the coming weeks before winter (hopefully) really sets in.

Want to let you know about this Saturday’s SoCal Snow Avalanche Fundraiser at Mountain High in Wrightwood.
    From their site. . .
SCASC has once again teamed up with Teton Gravity Research for the Avalanche Center’s second annual fundraiser with “Higher” Jeremy Jones’ latest film from TGR.
There will be raffles, silent auctions and much more. Prizes will consist of Snowboards, Avalanche safety equipment, Apparel, Season passes and more. There will be avalanche training clinics during the day and programs will depend upon the snow conditions: 8–14″ from Tues morning. If snow permits we will also run a safe travels clinic and have a rescue shoveling competition for prizes.

Live music before and after the movie by Matt Aggers, Raffles and the silent auction will be conducted following the movie. Argh , dang it! Have to take care of my kid. Wife has a party to attend.

After much research, experimentation and consideration, I have decided adulthood is not for me. Thank you for the opportunity.

I’m looking for a split crew for SoCal/Eastside? A lifelong snowboarder and surfer just got bitten by the split bug after a few guided backcountry trips in CO. If anyone is planning a San Gorgonio run or Eastside trip please let me know. I’m taking an Avy 1 course in Bishop on 3/28 and plan to do some outings that week. PM me if anyone is interested in joining… /cheers

But more importantly, you can hobnob with some dudes who hit up San G regularly. We had a particularly epic dray at Baden Powell yesterday.

Thanks for the info. That is definitely more convenient but conflicts with my trip to Wasatch. I would definitely like to Hobnob with the SoCal crew on the next outing. Please keep me posted and I’ll keep up on the boards to see the happenings. Thanks for the info.

Anybody been checking the extended forecast predictions everyday like me? Feeling like a lunatic haha. I am new to this site, but I live in san diego and will be making lots of trips to eastern Sierra this winter. Always looking for people to ride with.

Heading up day after Turkey day for mammoth. Planning on hitting the crest friday after arriving and the from there open to input. Or if the crest is good just keep lapping it!

    Come one come all!

I’m planning to head to mammoth 12/14-12/16 (mon-wed). Was supposed to go with a friend but he got work to do instead. Right now I’m just planning to pack it in to snow camp, got a homemade ski pulk to try out, and tour / ride mellow terrain since I will be alone staying out of avy areas. Anyone want to meet up to ride? I’m thinking probably the duck pass area.

    Hey all,

Haven’t posted in probably 6 years… I moved from VT, did some more schooling in Arkansas (snow conditions there suck), and eventually made it out to SoCal last year. I am in the Santa Barbara area now, but try to get to the mountains once a month if I can… (family happened in the meantime. Hoping to get my daughter sliding on snow this winter! 🙂 )

If there is anyone who wants to tour in the San Gabriels, or outside of Mammoth, let me know. I can probably arrange day trips to the LA area more often than the Eastern Sierra. Planning on signing up for the Exum Splitboard Mountaineering course at the end of February also…

    Thanks,
    Shep

Home for me is at the base of the Angeles Crest; as such the San Gabriels are my home range. I’d be happy to your with you when I can.
btw. . . NSP is offering an Avy1 class next week. It’s closer than other options. http://splitboard.com/talk/topic/2016-avy-ed-in-los-angeles/
