HA. I was just looking at Caltrans website.

I think we may gravitate that way Thursday night. Getting to be an annual tradition to hit it the first day the pass opens.

Oh man. You guys….I’m pretty much locked into something this weekend already. If it fizzles out I’ll be up for sure.

Does anyone have the # for ranger station in Bridgeport?
It would be worth a call to see if sledding is done for the season.
I was up March 30th weekend and there was good snow up there but not many people sledding anymore.

Didn’t get to bring all my avi gear but Mt. Baker was pretty sick last Saturday. 8)

I’ve heard Tioga may be opening to the gate as well this weekend. I’m planning on heading up there either Sat or Sun. so if you guys feel like driving that far south, drop me a line and I’ll meet you up there.

The number for the ranger station in Bridgeport is 760-932-7070. I think the disbursed snowmobiling is closed for the season and you are only alowed to ride between the road and within 75 feet of leavitt lake or something.

Splitboarding is the answer unless Splitbooting is the answer, either way we're going snowboarding because America!

That’s what the folks at TPR were predicting as well. The road was already plowed all the way to the Tioga gate when we were there last weekend.

I would guess that by this weekend condtions around there ought to have returned to springlike. Ellery was OK after the last dump but will probably be pretty boney by then. If it corns up it might be decent. Chute Out is solid ice and exposed rocks at the top. Dana couloir was solid ice under about a foot of pow on Saturday. After the new stuff melts down it will probably be sketchy. Solstice had some exposed rocks at the top, and the cornice was a lot smaller than usual. Hard to say whether or not it’s icy in the chute. It *looked* pretty much just like Dana couloir on Sat.

My guess is that Conness has the best coverage, and it should be going off back there. We wanted to make it out that way but didn’t get a chance to. At the time, it sounded like Saddlebag road was still mostly snow covered, and the lake was probably frozen enough to skin across.

I’m back to weekends off for the next 3 months. I can only get out on Sat though so I’m working on trying to get Friday off too. How about Sonora on Fri and Tioga on Sat?

    BCD,
    I’ll be in touch. 🙂

I think Nat and I well be camping thursday night at Chipmunk Flat or on the pass. Riding Sonora Friday, then Tioga Saturday. Sunday, whereever it is better.

When you guys establish a plan, drop me a clue. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it up; but it wouldn’t be before Friday evening for me no matter.

    108 is open.

3sb – if Tioga opens, I’m sure everyone will be at the two main parking areas up there early.
