I snapped my splitboard, forgot my poles in some dude’s truck, and then broke my ski rack holding my broken board. So… If you were coming from the WP side and picked up two splitboarders at Current Creek in your red truck with a topper, I left my poles and would love them back. Beer upon return. If you’re selling a splitboard for a decent price that isn’t too beat up, lemme know. I don’t need skins/hardware. Anything in the 159-166 range thats not a Burton or a DIY would be great. If you’re in CO, I could take it off your hands tomorrow. Here’s some pics… Thanks everyone, Spank March 8, 2011 at 7:27 am #637272 thefugitive 27 Posts That sucks man…. +++vibes+++ I have to ask… how’d you wreck your splitter? March 8, 2011 at 3:19 pm #637273 spankthepow 37 Posts I had a little too much speed going over a roller. Got sent a few feet, not very far by any means since I wasn’t bombing down. I landed on my ass and continued down the run when I noticed the damage at the end. You were hauling pretty good, still breaking a board at the front binding is pretty rare. Sorry about your day, I feel bad and partly responsible since I picked the line. Did you find a reasonable priced replacement board yet? March 8, 2011 at 5:55 pm #637275 Killclimbz 1165 Posts I mentioned this on TGR, but just in case you don’t see it there. Even though this is impact damage, making it outside of normal warranty, I think it’s worth your time to contact Voile on this. I’ve seen more than one snowboard manufacturer replace a board even though it was clearly impact damage from user error. So who knows? Maybe my standard definition of “hauling” is slightly off then I’ve emailed Voile and am waiting to hear back from them as well as chasing down some leads on a split. March 8, 2011 at 7:46 pm #637277 PedroDelfuego 758 Posts IMO: This board failed. The core snapped. It should not have broken where and when it did. It may have been broken already, and that was just the “death blow”. :deadhorse: March 9, 2011 at 12:09 am #637278 DesoHoe 9 Posts I’d definitely contact voile. I broke my splitty a few weeks ago, but it cracked right under the touring brackets (which makes sense, seeing as thats where all the wear goes during climbing). The break in my board looked like a fatigue crack from aggressive climbing and split skiing, but it was also a home-split, so it makes sense that it broke at the weak point. Not sure if that helps in evaluating your situation, but the more info, the better. Voile is really good with their customer service, and (if anything) would be glad to hear from someone charging hard enough to test the limits of their equipment. I feel your pain. Hope you get your split situation dialed soon. Peace. THIS IS AWESOME! The Voile dudes/dudets definitely know their customer service   March 10, 2011 at 4:16 pm #637283 Killclimbz 1165 Posts Awesome! I am glad to hear they are replacing your board. I had a hunch they might. Voile is awesome for that. And Pedro, what makes you think that boards do not snap? Where it snapped is where I’ve seen every board snap. There is a sweet spot right at either end of the bindings. If you hit it just right, you will snap your board. I don’t care what you have. Neversummer, Venture, Prior, or Voile. This was impact damage, not a manufacturing defect period. Delams are typically what you will see in manufacturing problems and a couple of other things. Voile was in no way required to replace this board. So big props to them for doing that. This is a company going 100% beyond and above what they need to do. March 10, 2011 at 4:32 pm #637284 PedroDelfuego 758 Posts That’s awesome bro! I am glad they took care of you. Props to Voile! @killclimbz wrote: If you hit it just right, you will snap your board. I don’t care what you have. You are mistaken. A good solid board will not break where this one did@killclimbz wrote: This was impact damage, not a manufacturing defect period. And you were there and saw the impact damage happen? Lets not get to familiar Killclimbz, since you were not there and don’t necessarily know what the fuck you are talking about. I did not say it was a defect, it is after all a 8yr(+/-) old board. March 11, 2011 at 2:19 pm #637285 Killclimbz 1165 Posts Sorry pedro, I am not trying to rub you the wrong way. It is impact damage. A board doesn’t snap like that unless it is. End of story. Didn’t mean to ruffle your feathers… March 11, 2011 at 3:38 pm #637286 PedroDelfuego 758 Posts No problem, sorry to sound like a douche on the internet. March 11, 2011 at 3:51 pm #637287 Killclimbz 1165 Posts On a side note. Super props to Voile for replacing the board. 8 years old? I don’t think I know of any board company that would replace a board that far out of warranty. Viewing 17 posts - 1 through 17 (of 17 total) You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
