It started to dump pretty heavy yesterday afternoon. I was able to walk across that log on the way out to the parking lot. December 17, 2012 at 5:31 pm #643914 Jefe009 675 Posts Pea gravel was nice yesterday. Very slabby snow, super wind loaded up on the ridge, so we stuck to the trees. Oliver got some good pics of the layers in the pit we dug, and one hard ski cut above collapsed the whole pit. Ride safe out there! Should be plenty of pow for harvesting all over. www.splitlife.net December 17, 2012 at 7:12 pm #643915 nwboarder82 166 Posts How was the creek crossing? Which path did you use for an exit out to the parking lot? December 17, 2012 at 7:14 pm #643916 Jefe009 675 Posts Few pics from Pea Gravel, thanks for the photos Oliver!: Elliot dry humping the log crossing: Easy to see the recent storm layers: Pow in the trees: Many rivers to cross, the valley trail out requires maybe 8 creek crossings: www.splitlife.net December 17, 2012 at 8:01 pm #643917 mofoco 94 Posts Nice pics. I spent the weekend moving. Kept thinking how great it would’ve been to be on the mountain. Glad you guys got some! December 17, 2012 at 9:12 pm #643913 imitationfunk 85 Posts Pea Gravel definitely needs a couple more feet of snow. On Saturday we went further up the creek than where Elliot was humping that log. Chronic busted snow off a log and we could basically walk across. Ended up riding 800 foot shots just at the edge of treeline on the ridge. On the way back had a little navigation error and ended up coming out at the Nordic Center. It took a little longer but we were able to walk across a bridge. So that was nice. Came out just after dark to an empty parking lot. Cold and wet. But warmed up with Mexican beer and heated seats. Thanks for the beta. I’m going to hit it up solo tomorrow. December 19, 2012 at 2:41 am #643920 nwboarder82 166 Posts Good news, no more log humping or fugitive-style creek crossing. There is a cat-track bridge now. I don’t know how far the cat track goes up and didn’t want to scout it out since the permit area was closed. It was a powderiffc day up at pea gravel. A lot of snow fell in the last couple days and covered up the trees pretty nice. I met up with another skier in the parking lot and rode some mellow slope in the deep snow. The powder was very dry and deep in most places. We didn’t find any area ready to slide. Perhaps if the slope angle was steeper, there would have been a problem. If anyone comes across a yellow motorola talkabout at the bottom of the tree runs, please pm me. I lost it after I sat my bag down… December 20, 2012 at 8:58 pm #643921 Krinkle 10 Posts @chronicracing wrote: End of the World Tour! January 2, 2013 at 11:51 pm #643925 acmcmurray 39 Posts Pea gravel was nice today, great and packed skin track all the way up. Dropped into newton, still good powder in the shaded and tree aspects. Some definite wind loading from clark canyon side but all in all pretty firm. The sun was turning much to corn as the day progressed. No complaints, yeah splitting January 3, 2013 at 4:15 pm #643926 acmcmurray 39 Posts Does anyone know who sells heel risers locally (voile, etc).
