What’s up OR Splitfest attendees. Was just at the Baker splitfest, and boy was that fun. Good times! But a hell of a drive from Portland.

I’m working on a basic list of stuff to bring and some directions for y’all, but it pretty much breaks down like this:

    It’s a rustic A frame from the 30s
$30/person to cover cabin rental for 2 nights
Bring stuff for winter camping minus the tent
    Bring food for the weekend
Stays pretty warm in the cabin, and there is a big pot to melt snow for water
    Firewood is already cut
We’ll be there at the trailhead by 2pm on Friday 4/20 to start hauling in beer. We’re planning on bringing a bunch; maybe not enough to keep you lying in a puddle of vomit the whole weekend. So bring a few if you’re the thirsty type.

I’ll post up directions and final info in a few days here. Also, need to start collecting for the cabin rental. Please paypal $30 to geoff.guillory@gmail.com, and mark it ‘personal’ please to avoid the fees.

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate your help making this one to remember, and repeat. Thanks especially to Chris at Next Adventure for hooking up the promo materials, sled and beer! For all your splitting needs, Next is the place for sure.

I’m gonna miss everything… at least save me a T-Shirt! Med or Large 😀

Probably going to miss the Friday morning ascent, don’t think I can get out there (drive, park, hike in) in time. Which isn’t too bad cause I got some photos to take, just catch up with ya guys Friday night and hopefully the weather will be good for a little climb Saturday.

No worries, I’m not even getting to the trailhead until about 2pm. So we won’t be at the cabin until around 5ish anyway.

I’m interested! My only problem is that I might be deployed to CA in the case of a work strike, but I really won’t know until the last minute. The union contract expires April 7th. That would be the only thing to prevent me from coming.

I do have my own transportation and an extra spot or 2 for anyone else coming from Seattle area.

No prob — I’ll put you on the tentative list.

Just let me know as soon as you can. Thanks, Jefe

Anybody have recommendations for a weekend rental/demo? A buddy is going to check the event out as his first taste of BC oriented riding and prefers not to be on snowshoes

For sure, let’s give it up to our sponsor. (Ahem). Next Adventure on SE Grand can hook you up. Talk to Chris, he’ll set you up straight.

Hey! Change of plans for me that weekend. Now 90% committed to this event. Sounds awesome.

ALSO, I HAVE A KEG SLED!

Built it for this past New Years from 2 old skis and some lumber. Hauled 2 kegs into an old ski lodge with no problems. Sure beats using a kayak…

This is the kind of event it was made for, though it will be a trail of tears to the top with a full 1/2 keg, that’s a lot of elevation…

I think I may need to make a trailing brake like on the proper expedition sleds.

We were up at TJ last spring. Loaded our packs down and skinned up. Toured up past the Guard Station where some guys had snowmobiled in a feast. Jealous.

Nice! We may be able to do a pony keg after all then. What time can you get to the trailhead on Friday 4/20?

Chris, any word yet from Hopworks?

I’ve got the day off, so whenever. It might be nice to motivate and get some morning laps in at Meadows if the snow’s good, too. Got to use that Spring Pass.

Human ingenuity. That sled is money. We may need it to haul Chronic up there as well.

    Hey now,

Ok, probably no front pointing or technical climbing for me 4/20. Here’s my toes last week.

Side view a few days after 3/18.

I’ll save you from the pictures of my backside, but I didn’t spend much time sliding on my sides.

Looking forward to my first outing on snow again.

Good to have you back from the dead Mike! Will be great to have you with us.

Also guys, we’re gonna have a off duty patroller w us for the weekend as well to help with first aid / pulling kegs etc. He’s very nature friendly apparently… and is a learning splitter as well too I guess.
