I’ve been a mid-week rider for the last 10 years, also been working in a ski/ snowboard shop in Framingham for the last 10 years. I plan on continuing to ride midweek if possible and if I go on a weekend to tour, because I can’t stand crowds. They scare me. My quiver right now consists of 156 Skate banana (first year production), 2011/12 Travis Rice HP 157, 10/11 Ride Highlife 158, 09/10 Ride Slackcountry 164. Also have a 10/11 Never Summer Heritage 158 which I’m probably going to sell. I absolutely cannot wait for it to start snowing, had the itch to start riding for well over a month now… August 19, 2011 at 12:54 pm #641644 fookoSHRED 9 Posts Yeah, I live in Portland. Usually ride Sunday Riv/Sugarloaf. This past winter have been to Saddleback a few times and the occasional night at Shawnee if there is fresh snow. Have been riding like 18 years or something. As for avy knowledge, I am pretty much a beginner. Have carried peeps, probe and shovel riding out west at Baker, Big Sky and Bridger. Looking to take some type of avy safety class this winter and purchase my own gear. As for my splitboard…I am finishing up DIY Burton Supermodel Split. Started splittin 4 years ago and for years I didn’t see any fellow splitboarders which would prompt strange looks from hikers and skiers. As I mentioned before I work up in Tucks so drop by for a beer and pie on your way to the Sherburne ski trail or higher up. My quiver consists of a home split Arbor element and a factory defect Prior Backcountry that I bought from a “dude” in Vancouver when I lived out there. I’m definitely interested in getting out there in real winter and learning about avy safety etc. Maybe Shurburn Ski trail as a starter or Gulf of Slides. I have a spot or two in Western Maine that I have explored hiking in summer that I am interested in checking in winter on split, nothing near Tuckermans/Mt Wash size. August 20, 2011 at 3:46 pm #641649 Charlie Day 11 Posts Totally down for an east coast split committee. I know there’s some people up by Jay that do a good amount of hiking, and I’m sure I can find a few more from ski industry contacts… Anyone ever been to Magic mtn in Southern VT? I know they’re friendly to earn your turns and I think they even run free tours. I’m totally beginner to avy safety or any of that, but I do have some gear (probe, shovel and beacon) and I’m down for an overnight trip. Only 1 way to learn and get better!
