So I just saw two pics from the http://www.angrysnowboarder.com which is generally not a big back country gear blog, but one of our own, killclimbz has provided the occasional guest post.

Check out these pics from his twitter. All pictures are by http://www.angrysnowboarder.com

Rome splitter, apparently called the white room:

Come on, Will, give us the dirt. We need the lowdown on those boots!!!! They look sick!

    And Spark boots: http://snowboarding.transworld.net/1000144884/featuresobf/2012-product-sneak-peek-gallery-two/?nggpage=2&pid=40869#ngtop

edit to add: Spark has now solidified itself in the Split board hall of fame. First splitboard specific soft boot binding and NOW first soft boot with a backcountry sole/soul.

It will be interesting now that the big boys have entered our little industry (see K2, Nidedecker, Mervin, etc.), No matter what happens Will has done it the right way and I appreciate his willingness to take risks on us dirtbags.

It wasn’t long ago, what 3 years?, that you actually quit your day job, Will? That took a lot of balls. :headbang: :headbang: :thatrocks:

I am pretty sure those are Deeluxe Spark boots. They have been around for a while.

Oh shit, so it’s a coincidence they’re named “Spark”. Damn, that’s lame. Anyway, I didn’t know they exist. Anybody ridden them?

I don’t know, but if you look closely at the note in the pic pinned next to the boots, it *looks* like it says they’re a collaboration b/t Deeluxe and Spark R & D.

Yeah, I see that now too.

Here’s the Deelux Spark from 2007

The Deelux website says they’re designed by Xavier de la Rue too. I’m intrigued. Might have to try a pair on next year.

Hmmm, seems like a lot of hands in this boot. Could be good. Wavy is correct. It says plainly that Spark and Deelux collaborated on this boot on the sign in the picture.

It looks like a good first step!

Though it looks like the sole doesn’t have toe/heel welts so one is still stuck with full strap crampons…would be nice to have the option for step-ins or hybrids.

Those look nice. I like that they went with real laces and not some fancy contraption..

Looks like Spark R&D is involved. No details, but Will just wrote me back with, “I wouldn’t know anything about a Spark boot from Deeluxe that’s coming out this fall, I just don’t know where these rumors get started ; )”

Go Will!!! Way to step it up.

What a funny coincidence with the name.

These definitely look interesting. I agree it would be nice to have the option of toe/heel welts, but these could be a huge first step! And, I did see them in the spark catalog for next year!
