It has been five years since the first edition of “Backcountry Skiing California’s Eastern Sierra” came out, and I imagine you’ve all rode everything in that book by now. So, if you’ve been waiting for some new material, that wait is over! Almost……

Pre-order is now available, and the books are scheduled to ship early November. For every book we sell on pre-order, I am personally matching a guaranteed one inch of snow, to fall on the Eastern Sierra between November and June, of the 14/15 winter season. If we sell 100 book, I will deliver 100 inches of snow. 200 books=200 inches. 500 books? You do the math.

So, it’s up to you! Order here: http://wolverinepublishing.com/backcountry-skiing-sierra-nevada

    Here’s the details:

This one is an expansion on the first edition. It’ll cover the entire East Side, with 14 chapters:
    Lone Pine
    Independence
    Big Pine
    Bishop
    Pine Creek
    Rock Creek
    Mcgee
    Convict
    Mammoth
    June
    Tioga
    Lundy
    Virginia
    Bridgeport

And over 200 descents, including things like
Whitney, and most of CA’s 14’ers
    Lone Pine Peak
    Deerhorn Mountain
    University
    The Palisades
    South Lake
    Mt Mendel
    The Buttermilks
    Feather Peak
    White Fang
    Mt Ritter
    Red Slate
    The Negatives
    Dana Plateau
    Matterhorn Peak
    Incredible Hulk
    and so on….

    UPDATE:

I received an advance copy yesterday, and it’s looking pretty good, if I do say so myself. We’re still a few weeks away from having it in stores, but it’s one step closer!

bcd posted this on tgr yesterday. 🙁

“Unfortunately, there’s bad news today. Dave Pegg, the owner of Wolverine Publishing, has passed away. I’m still sorting out the details on things at the moment. But, as far as pre-orders are concerned, things might be on hold for a little while. I believe Wolverine was mostly a one-man operation, and Dave was it. So, if you’ve pre-ordered, please be patient. It sounds like at least some books shipped last week. I’ll relay info as I get it.”

Thanks all. Yeah, there’s some bad news at the moment. But after I posted that on TGR, I got a few confirmations that books were being delivered. So I’m optimistic that they all went out. I’ll keep you posted when I know more.

And, yes, I dug through my photo archives and pulled out a few hidden gems. Like bcrider with the sixpack. There’s even an appearance by Steeleman (remember that guy!?!?!?!) from that same trip. Maybe this will bring him out of hiding…….

I got my book yesterday. Nothing beats a quality guidebook. This is the best guidebook I have ever seen.

Planning on a few camping trips to the East Side now.

    BCD,

Sorry to hear about Dave 🙁
Wishing you and his family the best.

Steeleman is around. Busy being a dad I’m sure. Hoping for a reunion this year! Lets hook up!

Just wanted to say to Dan on the forum thanks for the time n effort you put into your work, surly it is “undervalued” to say the least!

Mt Gilbert is in there? Which one is Mt. Gilbert again? Ahh they are all Mt Gilbert – pay no attention to this move on now.
