Pics by bcrider, puff nattie, ecobrad, and powderjunkie

After stuffing myself with Thanksgiving goodness on Thursday and Friday I headed back down to the eastside with ecobrad for some more November turns. We left my place in the foothills around 9pm and found powderjunkie and puff nattie’s camp near Mammoth around 1am.

Waking up is hard to do.

Unless of course you have a stylin’ camper.

Breakfast at the Palomino Cafe courtesy of powderjunkie. Thanks man!

Lots of renegade camping spots on the eastside, this one was even pretty.

    Snowflakes.

    Skinning in.

    Nature.

    The Crag.

The snow started sticking to our skins bad creating the “concrete shoes” effect. We applied some glop stopper and were back in biz.

    More views.

    Puff Nattie stoked.

    PJ wastes no time.

    Back for another.

    Puff Nattie cashes in.

The boys went for a little chute off the top.

I accidently deleted my pics from the rest of the day and evening. 🙁

Nattie had a few. Looking back on the way out.

    PJ.

    Additional notes.
I forgot how to snowboard on the first run and took not one but two cartwheels. The crew enjoyed it. I also lost a whippet but found it on run 3. For great eats in Mammoth check out Thaid Up.

    Day 2 coming soon.

Great TR. Who says the snow in the Sierra isn’t happening yet?

Nice product placement in the 1st photo… My bag feels inadequate at 700 fill… Shoulda bought North Face… What kind of shell does that bag have, Epic or similar waterproof shell? Always fun shaking the ice off the outside in the morning…

Anyway, sounds like a rough day… Multiple cartwheels and some lost photos… Early season kinks being worked out? Looking forward to day 2….

About 3-3.5 hrs to Tahoe and then 3.5 or so to Mammoth. What are your dates again?

Nice job I’m glad you guys got yours! Puff Nattie, stoked as always. PJ in the breakfastmobile is always such a welcome site after a long drive. Ecobrad on a Burton?!? Is that new, or a rock board? Did you get the impression that that snow was holding up? It looked nicer than I expected. Was it getting gooey at all? Hit any rocks? I heard some kind of rumor about rocks.

Tsondaboy – mammoth is 6 hours from SF. You must make a trip when you are in CA. I think there is supposed to be a SF-Mammoth flight this winter. Hmmm… I wonder how much that will cost?

I think it will be $150 from LA area, I’m not 100% sure though but I think the flights started Dec. 1.

I bought a 162 off of Chris this summer. Thankfully it’s still not a rock board. I wanted more of a turning board for not so deep days. Slowly building a quiver.

Yes, we did hit a few rocks but we pulled it. No fatal shots which is always good. As far as it holding up, I would not make another 6 hour drive until it snows again. It was definitely worth it this time though. Great trip to kick off the season.
