Can you get more space? November 22, 2005 at 3:07 am #584324 bcrider 4149 Posts Nice work guys! I like the header gregm! 8) Here are a few I created. I really want to show both the up and the down part of splitboarding. As you can see, the small size may be hard to accomplish this. November 22, 2005 at 3:16 am #584325 mtnrider 740 Posts The last one is decent size? Can you make something the actual size it will have to be for the ad? It will be 1/8 inch bigger than this (apprx) ps. this is just an example of what I’m thinking…not the actual ad. November 22, 2005 at 7:02 am #584327 steeleman 61 Posts Agree with Zach that less is more. The logo is also too small to be effective at that size. Need something very simple with only 2 3/8 to play with. Not that this is the answer, but needs to be easy on the eyes and not very busy at all. Bigger: Print Size: November 22, 2005 at 4:05 pm #584328 SanFrantastico 1514 Posts Yeah – that’s perfect, I think. The picture is perfect and the tag succinctly describes the glory of splitting. You always have to consider your ad on a page with a zillion other ads being read by someone who doesn’t know he should care about what you’re selling. Most people don’t carefull examine every ad in a mag. If you cram a bunch of stuff on the ad, at a glance it will just look like a giant blur and the eye will move on to something easier to grasp. Steeleman’s ad is eye-catching and gets the point across in the tenth of a second that you have available to you. Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. November 22, 2005 at 4:35 pm #584329 nomad 288 Posts I know you’re probably not planning on using that picture for an ad, but just in case…. it is copyrighted, which I found out after I posted it on biglines, and got politely chewed out….. just so you know. November 23, 2005 at 6:13 am #584330 bcrider 4149 Posts I was gonna ask if we could use it nomad, people seem to really dig it. Unfortunately we won’t be able to pay to use it though. Do you think the photog would be happy with getting the photo credit and seeing his name/work in print? November 23, 2005 at 7:22 pm #584331 steeleman 61 Posts what happened to mmcpheet’s website? He’s got some pretty sweet split images that I could use to make a good ad. And I’m pretty sure he’s cool with using the photos 😉 November 30, 2005 at 6:35 am #584332 mmcpheet 98 Posts @steeleman wrote: what happened to mmcpheet’s website? I could easily work that into the site design and replace the shitty cave drawing that currently serves as the logo 😉 November 30, 2005 at 3:49 pm #584335 bcrider 4149 Posts It does look clean mmcpheet, thanks! You can see the split in the board too. 8) I’m my toughest critic however and I don’t really like my steeze in the air. Do you guys think the shot after is any better? http://biglines.com/photos/blpic40625.jpg Gregm also made a good point in his example about adding something to let the viewer know that there is more here than a retail store. There is the discussion, resources, and community. November 30, 2005 at 4:30 pm #584336 affix snow 521 Posts @bcrider wrote: It does look clean mmcpheet, thanks! I still like McPheet’s, but i agree in adding “Forums” and other stuff under it to let people know there is more than just retail…. November 30, 2005 at 7:26 pm #584337 steeleman 61 Posts Hey, that cave drawing required all of my meager photoshop skillz! When you get a lawyer to set up your site and he pays for it with his own dough, i guess you get what you pay for… 🙂 anyway, my 2 cents is that the ad is still way too small in its print size to fit in all the stuff about forums, trip reports, etc. Maybe the way to solve all of these problems is to say “Splitboard.com” in the same font as the logo, and then instead of “Future of BC Snowboarding”, simply say “Splitboard Community” or “Backcountry Snowboarding Community” Viewing 20 posts - 21 through 40 (of 53 total) ← 1 2 3 → You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
