I’m looking forward to it, but I haven’t seen much info yet. Anyone interested in a trip, or have any info. I’m way too game for it, and in fact, I’m more stoked for the Sierra’s than anything else this season. February 16, 2013 at 7:03 am #665931 fustercluck 668 Posts Hoglord, you should know that you don’t need a splitfest for there to be peeps riding the eastside when it’s good. Sounds like right now Mammoth to Bridgeport area is worthy, but south is still kinda bare. I’m looking at taking a week or so mid April to do some splitting, and having partners is always cool. Destination is still up in the air, but Eastside is an option, as is a volcano tour, or heading east. Let me know if you (or anyone else) are down. In the meantime, Donner split party should be sweet, and it looks like snow is on the way :bananas: February 16, 2013 at 5:00 pm #665932 maxpower88 58 Posts This year has been a good one for sure. The krew and I have been at it since mid November, finding pow and taking down line after line. I would be super stoked for an Eastside splitfest….doesn’t J-bay usually put it together? Anyway, hopefully something can be put together so we can all meet up and party! :guinness: (I mean go splitboarding, HA-ha) Some stoke from this year… On top of the Negatives Dropping the Negatives Dropping Red Cone Red Cone Dropping the Scenic Loop Scenic Loop Dropping the Morrison Col Morrison Col Chicken Wing The Hose (sherwins) Hose Old Man’s bowl Old man’s bowl Mono Jim Dropping Mono Jim More Mono Jim Mt Lewis & the North Couloir North Couloir after the fact Devil’s Slide featuring J-bay Devil’s slide Even managed a couple of overnights… Looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully meeting some of you fellow dirtbags! I’m sure we can chat it up and maybe narrow down some venues to head out and up to, whether that’s in the Cascades, SouthEast, Canada, or the Himalaya (I wish). We’ll figure something out. This coming Tuesday and Wednesday look to be pretty promising, which will be awesome for this coming weekend. February 16, 2013 at 7:23 pm #665934 TEX 2486 Posts The Eastside Hosting Commity has been chatting about a get together. Tentative date is first weekend in May, which is May 3-5. Conditions should be good then, lots of options, roads opening, and of course the Mo-mart will be open 🙂 (cue fustercluck comment here about me coming out of the woodwork to mention the Mo-mart). Stay tuned for more details soon. February 18, 2013 at 4:16 pm #665937 hoglord 202 Posts Sounds good JimW. The conditions Iv been finding down there have been, well meh… But Im a powder snob and a little buthurt that the mammoth sk8 park had snow in it. Still fun to explore! I’ve got crap for vacation days, but will pull some all nighters to drive out there and back for some good lines. Will probably have at least one willing cohort coming with me from the SF bay area as well… Don’t be shy about the final plans…. Dirtbaggin it is all good…. Make sure you bring enough party supplies How you digging the pulk dude? How technical are you able to get on your approaches? After talking to some winter mountaineers, i’m really wanting to ditch the heavy ass backpack and start pulking. The extra weight allowance would sure make spending days out there a lot more enjoyable. February 26, 2013 at 7:07 pm #665941 jbaysurfer 947 Posts Awesome Post MaxP, even if I’ve seen them before. Sorry for lagging. Yes, due to 1) a lame snowpack, and 2) more importantly, unforseen circumstances beyond my control that made organizing this fall off the radar, this ain’t happening this year. Sorry. Next year for sure! We do have some good location options and just need to get things organized, which will happen next time. Swanny was good on his end, it was just me that was lagging. That said, hopefully the usual suspects will show up when the road opens. I was toying with getting out there next weekend, same time as the fishing opener and of course most importantly the MO-MART OPENER! 🙂 But if the road is in fact open this weekend, somebody needs to get out there and post some pics. April 22, 2013 at 3:31 pm #665947 supermodel159 62 Posts I’m also interested in snowpack. I’ve heard it is horrible, but…any who goes please keep us updated. I’ve got a new rig, and wouldnt mind testing it out. April 23, 2013 at 12:43 am #665948 Incalescent 225 Posts Approaches at exits at Tioga Pass are pretty bare, but the runs themselves are holding snow. Summiting Mt. Dana Saturday required transitioning from skins to boots to crampons and back several times. So did the exits. Best bets so far look like Ellery Bowl, maybe False White. Lassen/Shasta sounds like the better deal at the moment. http://goldenincalescent.blogspot.com/ Viewing 20 posts - 1 through 20 (of 24 total) 1 2 → You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
