I’m heading there next week for 6 days, and a little tromp @ Loveland Pass… Don’t know if it’s Nrth/Sth San Juan. Heard many good things about that place… :bananas: February 25, 2009 at 7:18 pm #612722 Klem 10 Posts Central. If you look at the map below, we’re between the Northern and Southern San Juans. I always check both. If you go to Red Mountain Pass you are Northern, but if you go to Molass or Coal Bank Pass, you are Southern. It rained in town on Monday, but snowed where it counts… http://avalanche.state.co.us/pub_bc.php?zone_id=-1 February 25, 2009 at 7:51 pm #612723 fustercluck 668 Posts Seriously, rain in Feb.? I remember living in Breck a few years ago when everyone freaked out because it drizzled for an hour or two mid-winter. How often does Silverton see rain between Nov. and May? February 26, 2009 at 3:12 pm #612724 bones get broke 298 Posts I find that the Northern San Juan avy forecast is a little more representative of the Silverton area even though it’s right on the boarder. x2 on what Klem said, check both forecasts just be more informed. BTW – I have a buddy comming down from AK on the 6th. We’ll hopefully be getting out a couple of times while he’s here so if you want to hook up let me know as I’ve got a couple of fairly big plans. February 27, 2009 at 5:26 pm #612725 Klem 10 Posts Rain in the winter is extremely unusual. It’s normally very cold here. Happy to report that it did indeed snow up higher. Went out yesterday and we only had to climb a few hundred feet before the crust turned to powder. Klem, I don’t if you’re available for a beer next Thurs-Sat, but I know my buddy Dan is keen on the Venture boards. Trying to get him turned into a splitter. March 2, 2009 at 3:47 am #612727 boardrider247 61 Posts Well split beat me to it. But we’ll be riding silverton this coming weekend, and I’ve always wanted to check out the venture shop. The problem being that by the time we are done riding everyone is gone. So Klem or any other silverton natives for that matter lets meet for a beer at the POW. March 2, 2009 at 4:43 pm #612728 Klem 10 Posts We’ll be in Utah for demos Thursday & Friday, but will probably be back some time Saturday afternoon. If you are around then and the truck is parked outside the shop, stop by and I’ll be happy to give you the tour. Otherwise I’ll catch you guys at the POW. Also, while you are here, be sure to check out Silverton’s newest watering hole for happy hour: Montanya Distillers (http://www.montanyadistillers.com/) Mmmm rum… March 2, 2009 at 6:58 pm #612729 SPLITRIPPIN 709 Posts Klem, Excellent! I’m very impressed and will have one of your splits for next season. I found a good spot for the sticker already as well. Thanks again, it was great to meet you.
