Today I bent one of the baseplates climbing Teardrop at Stowe. It bent at the hinge of the climbing bar. I didn’t realize I had this problem till I tried to convert to snowboard mode and couldn’t get the binding all the way across the pucks. Suffice to say, it was a super shifty ride down. But, has this ever happened to anyone else?

I learned that with proper climbing technique you are supposed to put your weight in your forward heel to bring the back leg forward. So I imagine it either occurred over time or on a particular steep ascent. I have ibex crampons but I never felt the need to use them as there just a couple super steep sections. I am 6’3″ and weigh about 225lbs. Didn’t know if there was a weight limit for these.

Edit: Contacted Spark and sent them pictures. They are going to send me a new baseplate and I’ll send them the old one. I am really grateful because this was my first time using the bindings for an ascent over 2500′, and so far I really like the bindings. They are my first pair of splitboard specific binders.
