    Hey gang,

After 2 years of procrastination, I finally pulled the plug and switch to hardboots. I got my hands on a cheap pair of 2017 backland (orange and light blue) in really good shape and a set of phantom levers paired with the dyno. After only 2 days of riding, I noticed that the cuff of my right boots (front foot) was snapped on the outside horizontally just above the pivot point.
I can’t warranty them because they’re over 2 years old and Atomic doesn’t make spare cuff available for order directly from them or through their retailers.

Did anyone experience this? Anyone with a solo right boot willing to sell it?
Will a carbon cuff handle better the weird forward-inward flexion in riding mode that a ski boot doesn’t really get on skis?

    Cheers

I would be very interested to see a photo of the break point, recognizing that posting photos on here is a bit difficult.

I have no clue how to post a picture on here. Any recommendation?

I used to be able to figure it out, then tried last week and failed.

    sounds like

    ?
I was already wondering if that has happened to more people..
To my knowledge cuff design has been identical between the older blue/orange and the newer dark blue models.
Somebody pointed out that the pivot area of the cuff seems (?) thicker on the current boa models. Don’t know though whether that is due to a high numbers of failures with the old design or rather due to the new tongue-less design which of course also puts more stress to the cuff pivot area (when used by skiers as well).
ps: if you don’t care about privacy aspects you could use sites like imgur.com to upload a photo and share the link in the msg.

    Thanks for posting @raphael.

And, wow – that’s a big, clean break. I too wonder how many other boots have broken like that.
